Okinawan Shorinryu KarateYouth RecreationLearn Traditional Shorinryu Karate from an instructor who lived and trained in the birthplace of karate, Okinawa, Japan. Jurgens Sensei has over 40 years of experience, speaks the language, and understands the culture of a traditional dojo. He holds an 8th Degree Black Belt in Karate, and a 7th Degree Black Belt in Ryukyu Kobudo and is the senior ranked person in his association outside of Japan. Classes focus on development of fundamentals and then application of those skills through forms and self defense techniques. The focus is on personal betterment, not competition or sport. The approach applies to all ages; it is great for kids and even better for adults, who may get the most benefit out of the range of motion, balance, and strengthening drills. Adults also benefit from getting a break from a stressful day. Expect to learn some Japanese, traditional forms, and then useful applications from those forms while also getting in some work on pads and flexibility in this class. Children who require a lifejacket must wear one that is properly sized and U.S. Coast Guard approved; lifejackets are not provided. Whether it is raised and fried or baked, covered in frosting and sprinkles, it makes for the unhealthiest of breakfast. But we reach for them often. Come and make donuts together with your kids so that they are ready for breakfast the next morning. This is if they are interested in being in a team-like atmosphere rather than swim lessons, we do swim-like races as our practices. T-Shirt / Jersey Quilt Class Spring 2026Adult EnrichmentThis class is for anyone - No experience necessary but you must have access to a working sewing machine. Create and design a 72 x 90 T-Shirt Quilt by digging out your favorite T-Shirts, Jerseys or Sweatshirts from School, Vacations, Play, Sports, Dance, family memories.etc. Additional supplies such as fabric for the sashing, borders and binding can be purchased from the instructor or on your own. 10 yards of fabric is required to complete this quilt. Specific yardage as well as ways to quilt the top will be discussed at the first class. Anne offers class participants a special price of $95 to professionally machine quilt your T-Shirt Quilt. Class includes $30 of T-Shirt interfacing. You do not need to bring your sewing machine to the first class. Please bring a 45mm rotary cutter to the first class.
