Water Wise Garden and Landscape Practices


Adult Enrichment -
Winter/Spring 2025-26

Learn how to select native and other plants suitable for wet and dry sites in your landscape. Learn landscape management practices that conserve water, minimize polluted runoff and protect our wetlands, rivers and lakes. Registration deadline is March 15. Register early, space is limited.

Presenters:

*Laura Irish-Hansen, University of Minnesota Extension Educator - Horticulture, Managed Landscapes

Laura Irish-Hanson is a leader in promoting managed horticultural landscape systems through multiple perspectives such as ecosystem support, climate change, clean water (watershed impact), lower input landscapes, native and resilient plants, decorative landscapes, and more in collaboration with property owners, community organizations, urban stakeholders and others.

*Jennie Wagner, University of Minnesota Extension Educator - Master Gardener Volunteer Program.

Jennie Wagner has a B.S. in Plant and Soil Science from North Carolina State University and an M.S. in Horticulture from Virginia Tech. Prior to joining Extension, Jennie spent five years teaching agriculture and science at the high school and college levels.

*Holly Bushman, Water Resource Manager for Le Sueur County

Holly Bushman has a BS in Wildlife Ecology and Biology from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and a MS in Natural Resources from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. She has worked as the Water Resource Manager in Le Sueur County for 7 years. She has 10 years’ experience as a conservation professional. Experience in protecting, improving, and managing water and habitat resources, both in the public and private sectors, for Colorado and Minnesota.
